Welcome to the midpoint of the month. It's a cliche but true to say that summer has gone by so quickly. Why, only two days ago it was hot enough to fry eggs on the sidewalk. But this morning when I tried to cook my breakfast all I got was raw eggs and bits of gravel. Not too tasty. Fall is coming and hiding just behind Fall is that other dirty sock I've been looking for. No, that's no sock, but it is something that looks much like a dirty sock: Winter. And if you haven't experienced a Chicago Winter, let me tell you, it's much like having your brother slam your fingers in the car door over and over again just because you put Dad's Preparation H in his toothpaste. The impension of Winter is enough to make me want to quit my job just to get in a little outdoor hang-time before hibernation sets in. But I guess you'll probably find I'm always wanting to quit my job regardless of the season. Although I'm not a big fan of the heat, I do miss it when it's gone. And I don't want it to go. But now I must...adieu.
