Today my friend B3 told me he was disappointed I didn't do an entry yesterday. It's the first time in quite a while I missed a day. Yesterday was the second day in a row I worked until 10:30pm. When I got home around 11, I was so exhausted I just passed out immediately. So, fuck you, Billy. :-)

Here's an interesting take on Bin Laden. The main reason he sees the U.S. as enemy is because he wants to overthrow the current government of Saudi Arabia that has been protected and essentially propped up by U.S. aid since the end of WWII. If he can drive the U.S. out of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Militants can take over. Were you aware that currently there is no political debate allowed in Saudi Arabia? There is no parliament, no free speech, no political parties, no right of assembly. The monarchy uses U.S. trained security forces to quash overt expressions of dissent. So, I guess…again…there are terrorists, and there are terrorists. This monarchy is of course very, very wealthy in a country filled with many poor people. Bush I started the Gulf War not so much to protect Kuwait but to make sure Iraq didn't attack Saudi Arabia. Why all this dick sucking just to protect Saudi Arabia? Oil of course. The golden fluid that powers our machines. The US gets 1/6th of all it's oil from Saudi Arabia. Reagan declared that Saudi Arabia would not be another Iran. If militant Islamics took over from Saudi monarchs, they could hold the US over a barrel…so to speak. They could cut us off. And then what would Americans do with all their precious cars? And gas costing $10 per gallon? Not that Taliban is a better alternatives. It's the clash of ignorance: one dictatorship traded for another. The U.S. could have promoted democracy in the Middle East long ago, but democracy is not always easy to control. Like in Chile where those silly people tried to elect a Socialist, Salvador Allende. It's better to have a dictatorship that likes the US (Saudi Arabia) than an unpredictable democracy that might decide to do something not agreeable to U.S. economic interests.

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Afghanistan are at risk of starving to death very soon. I heard a guy at work saying we shouldn't stop bombing for Ramadan because "they" haven't turned over Bin Laden yet. The very fact that if we don't stop bombing soon many innocent people will die is enough reason to stop. Massive humanitarian aid needs to be trucked to these people, not a few thousand airdropped bags of bagels . It's horrifying. Bin Laden may be…MAY be…very very smart. Like a chess player. He may have already calculated that the Afghanistan people were on the verge of starving to death. And if the U.S. keeps bombing and perhaps a million of these people fall down dead - it'll be filmed. Probably the rest of the world will see it even if the videos aren't shown in the U.S. That could be enough to trigger national revolts in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, who knows where. Could THAT be his master plan? The big, dumb U.S. played like a sucker by the clever small organization. It could happen. We shall see. Everything at this point is completely unpredictable.

Hey, I'm going to be out of town for the weekend, so I won't be able to make an entry until Sunday evening. See you then.
