Here's a funny story. My friend has a friend.
That's right.
My friend has a friend who called him and told him that a 3rd mutual friend
of theirs.
Okay. See why it's bad to tell a story truthfully? Here's a better way
to tell the same story more directly.
Billy calls me and says, "Hey check out this week's issue of the Reader
(the free weekly in Chicago). There's a personal ad that says:
SCOOTER GIRL, WHERE are you? Red coat, white scooter, riding on Halsted
on a cold morning. You shivered as you waited for the green. Do you need
someone to warm you?
Billy went on, "That's for Ben. Our friend Ben. It's got to be. He's the
only one in town with a white vespa scooter and a red pea coat." Billy,
you see, is a member of the "mod vespa" community in Chicago. A lot of
them know each other from scooter rallies and such where you get to meet
lots of scooter people from the Chicago area. Billy called Ben, and sure
enough, Ben rides his scooter every morning down Halsted. Ben has somewhat
long hair, although he's not petite…but some guy obviously confused him
a girl. That's pretty funny.
Okay, maybe it's not that funny. But if you knew Ben who looks more like
a villain from Scooby Doo then a girl, then you'd think that was pretty
funny.
Anyway, what the hell do I know what's funny? You go write your own funny.
You think it's fun to sit here all day and try to be goddamn funny. Okay,
maybe I only sit here for about a ½ hour, but that ½ hour feels like an
hour.
Superman on the new JLA (Justice League of America) show on Cartoon Network
is totally gay, and totally Mr. America. I saw half the show tonight.
There was something disturbing about this show. This was a group of about
6 heros. Two women, 3 men and one male "alien." One of the men is black.
Both women are white. The alien is green. But they all appear very much
like "American heros." In JLA, the world is protected by all American-like
heros. There are no heros from other countries in the world. You have
the token black character. The two pale skinned females. It's a very stereotypical
50's group of heros. Like good old America, apple pie and Chevrolet. America
takes care of the world. America does what it wants. Capitalism calls
the shots, exporting American culture, corporate culture throughout the
world. Good by native culture. America protects and America controls.
And the bottom is controlled by the top. Power protects power protects
power corrupts.
If humans are good why is the machine evil?
Because we are socialized to become evil. Because greed dominates all
economic systems. How can we replace a culture of greed? With something
truly noble. And compassionate. I have no idea.
oh yeah,
i'm going to be able to make entries for a couple days. i'll get over
the weekend. So have a good Thanksgiving, to all my friends.
