I finally took some relatively decent photos of my most recent sculptures, and I scanned them in today. However, I don't have time to post them tonight; hopefully I'll get them up tomorrow. I started a new painting yesterday: a painting of dissipation, dissolution, dis-illusion. I have no fucking idea if it will come out or not. It's based on a photo of a friend of mine sitting at a table staring vacantly at a pack of cigarettes, a bottle of Jim Beam and Coca-Cola. I also bought a big action figure of King Kong, and I think I'm going to make a painting of King Kong destroying a city.

The most recent piece I completed is a bit fucked. I squirted a lot of acrylic paint between two fairly large pieces of acrylic plastic, and then pressed them together. The idea is to hang it from the ceiling so you can walk around it and see it differently from both sides. However, I'm having a hard time locking the two pieces together. I drilled some holes in the plastic, and I was planning on putting some bolts through it, but the acrylic cracked. I'm going to have to figure something else out. It's not completely ruined, but it is completely annoying.

I'm glad I'm finally taking steps to get rolling on a new painting. Sometimes starting is the hardest part.
