| 10-24-01 Y'all know that multi-billion dollar airline welfare bail-out that gave all the money to the airline corporations and did nothing to help the tens of thousands of airline employees who got laid off? Remember that? I was weeping for those poor airlines corporations. Gosh, I was just praying that the government would help them. Well, here's something all NEW! All EXCITING! House Republicans have proposed an "economic stimulus package" which might be better called the "corporate package stimulator" if you know what I'm sayin'. Apparently corporations will receive $100 Billion in refunds. For example, Ford gets $2.3 Billion, IBM will get $1.4 Billion, GM $832 Million, and GE $671 Million. I just don't understand, DON'T UNDERSTAND how anyone can believe that Bush and Republicans (and the majority of Democrats who feed from the same corporate money trough) actually care about human beings. Could it be any more obvious that profits come before people in the government's agenda? Sure, they'll help people on occasion. Put out a hand here or there. It suits them rhetorically. But when it comes to the real helping hand, that one goes out to those poor, poor corporations who can't make it on their own in the big bad world. Here's an interesting thought - communism, in practice, is a centrally, bureaucratically run economy with power at the top and peons at the bottom. A corporation is a centrally, bureaucratically run economy with power at the top and peons at the bottom. Corporations like to eliminate competition and strive for monopoly. Communism, too! Communism opposes freedom of press. Corporations own the press. These guys should get married! God, I'm so sick of being pissed off, but everything going on in the world seems to make me repeatedly pissed off. I'm one big pissed off. Smile and say cheese. |
