Art Manifesto:

Every action we take, whether we want to acknowledge it or not, is a political action. The creation of art no less so. In fact it is perhaps more political than many other actions because it helps to define culture which affects all of society. It is my belief that it is time for artists to embrace this political aspect and emphasize it; art should become entwined with political activism. The emphasis of a purely aesthetic or purely internal motivation for art is in itself a political choice - it is the opting out of political message in art. And while there may have been a time in society where it wasn't as obvious that art should communicate a political message (although I doubt it - we've had Holocaust, Slavery, starvation and oppression through all time), we are currently in apocalyptic times where the end of the human species is foreseeable. All the pretty pictures in the world won't be worth anything with the acceleration of global warming, disease, pollution, nuclear radiation and the end of numerous animal species and eventually the human race. Art should contribute to human awakening as best as possible. Even if it fails, just as our other political choices, I believe it is our duty as artists to try.
